MeFiTu arrives to Gran Canaria

May 28, Guiniguada (Las Palmas) – In the framework of the project “Vigías del Fuego” of Fènix Gran Canaria, we carried out the environmental education workshop MeFiTu. Children, aged between 7 and 12, from the scout group 105 Bentaya took part.

The “Vigías del Fuego” project aims to bring the reality of the rural world closer to the new generations and address wildfires as a natural phenomenon to coexist. This time, MeFiTu was adapted to the characteristics of the natural environment of Gran Canaria. The workshop not only served as an outreach activity on fire prevention and management, but it was also an opportunity to showcase an educational resource and educational methodology to the Fénix Gran Canaria team, so that they can perform MeFiTu in the future.

On this occasion, MeFiTu was introduced by Xènia Juan, from the projects area of ​​the Pau Costa Foundation, and Júlia Charles, biologist, and collaborator of the Foundation.

The Minister for the Environment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Inés Jiménez; the head of the “Obra Social de La Caixa” in the Canary Islands, Olga del Pino López; and representatives of the Scout 105 Bentaya group and Fenix Gran Canaria, were also present at the presentation and development of the workshop.
