International conferences and meetings
We promote the organization of international events to share operational, scientific and social knowledge.
We participated in the organization of the «Euro-Mediterranean Forest Fires Workshop on the Prevention and Fight Against Forest Fires and Natural Areas» together with the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) which was held in Tunisia, from April 23 to 25, 2024). The workshop sought to strengthen collaboration between the countries of the Euro-Mediterranean region in terms of prevention, preparation and response to the problem of the growing intensity of forest fires in the Mediterranean. The objective is for different countries to effectively combine capabilities to anticipate disasters through early warning systems, and respond to future challenges in a collaborative, organized, coherent and non-binding manner. During the workshop, we also had the opportunity to present the Foundation, its objectives and activity.

Together with the Fire Ecology Association (AFE) and with the collaboration of Regione Toscana and the University of Florence, we organized the conference “Fire Ecology Across Boundaries” from October 4 to 7, 2022, in Florence (Italy), Combining an in-person and online format, and with interpretations into English, Spanish and Italian, the conference was a meeting point for representatives of the different sectors involved in the management of wildfires at an international level. The set of lectures, oral presentations and workshops were carried out within the framework of thematic axes such as resilient landscapes and community action; traditional use of fire; education; or the latest advances in the field of fire ecology.

Together with the Federación de Voluntarios y Bomberos Voluntarios de la Provincia de Córdoba (Argentina) we generated spaces for debate for professionals from all sectors involved in the management of emergencies related to wildfires in this forum held in October 2018, in Córdoba, Argentina. We counted with the participation of 400 professionals from 20 different countries.
In 2017 we organized with CERTEC-UPC the event held annually by the Resource Modeling Association for its network of members. The Conference revolved around advances in wildfire modeling. This meeting took place in Barcelona, from June 6 to 9, 2017.
The Pau Costa Foundation was a pioneer in the co-organization of the “Wildland Safety Summit” in Europe. This event, organized annually by the IAWF, brings together international experts to discuss topics related to wildfire safety. On January 31, 2018, more than 3oo experts from 30 countries met in Barcelona to share knowledge and experiences in this field.
We organized the “l International Congress on Prescribed Fires” together with the University of Barcelona and the Fire Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya, from February 1 to 3, 2017, in Barcelona. More than 300 experts from different fields (scientific, operational, political, etc.) from 30 different countries attended this event to discuss and share knowledge and experiences about the use of fire.
This meeting was from May 8 to 10, 2014, in Barcelona. The first day was dedicated to the presentation of works. The two other days included field sessions to show fire prevention actions, some initiatives to take advantage of forest management and the synergies derived from collaborations at the local level.
